Smarter Golf Starts With Better Motion
Finishing your swing with a high balanced posture is a key indicator of good rhythm and proper sequencing. At Spine Align Golf, coaches often emphasize finishing high because it shows the body rotated fully, the club is released naturally and your balance is maintained. A controlled high finish helps you avoid deceleration, poor contact or loss of control.
A high finish means your swing is carried fully through the ball. When you end in a strong posture with weight on the lead foot and your chest facing the target it shows that you rotated through impact with power and held your balance. This translates into cleaner impact, deeper compression and more consistent ball flight. When finish positions collapse early it often reveals flaws such as shifting weight backward early sliding or losing posture which lead to weak or inconsistent strikes.
Each of these errors breaks the flow and reduces effectiveness of the shot.
Take half swings and pause at the high finish. Feel your weight on your lead foot chest turned to the target and club released high. This builds muscle memory for the ideal finish position.
Swing full shots but hold your balanced finish for a moment before resetting. Observe if you stay balanced or sway off. Regular practice helps you maintain control through impact and beyond.
Holding your swing high at the finish is more than just aesthetics, a sign your swing flowed correctly from start to finish with power and control. When you finish strong you give yourself the best chance of solid contact and consistent results.
